You know how on airplanes they tell you to put your own oxygen mask on first, because you can’t help anyone if you are dead.
That’s true for everyday life too!
Life gets so busy that we forget to care for ourselves sometimes. I know as a mom, I often eat last, go the bathroom last, and sleep last. That’s what I signed up for when I wanted kids, and I get it, they have needs. But sometimes you have to pause to look after yourself.
Sure a weekend away would be great, but I’ve got 4 kids, so getting a babysitter isn’t always easy. Instead, there are so many little moments you can take for yourself to recharge a little.
Take care of yourself first, just like on that airplane. Eat healthy, and exercise, so you are healthy enough to care for others.
If you have kids like I do, get your spouse to get up with them one morning letting you to sleep in. Our maybe he can do bedtime so you can relax in a hot bubble bath.
Did the kids fall asleep while out running errands? Hit a drive thru and treat yourself to a fancy coffee (once in a while won’t kill the budget!), a treat can be a way to care for yourself too!
Sneak off to do your nails, at home or at the salon. I love my Jamberry wraps, pretty nails put a smile on my face.
Drink lots of water. It goes back to being healthy, so you can take care of others. Staying hydrated, even in the winter, is so important.
Self care is about taking care of yourself physically and mentally. What little things do you do to take care of yourself?
